International Gatherings
Network of Bolivian Adoptees of course started as an online endeavour to connect with more Bolivian adoptees internationally. With the number of members rising and interest growing to meet each other in person, the first gathering started to come to fruition.
1st International gathering in Brussels (Belgium), 2019.
This first gathering organised by Atamhi and Vicente took place in Brussels, Belgium. This first gathering was the first of many yet to come. During this gathering we had various activities; introduction games, presentations, and even went to a cultural event (Alasitas) organised by the Bolivian community.
2nd International Gathering in Stockholm (Sweden), 2020.
The second international gathering was organised in Sweden by Atamhi, Vicente and Teresa Norman in Sweden, Stockholm. We kept the concept of the gathering and updated our activities, introduction games, presentations, dinners, parties and programmed Bolivian folkloric dances.
3rd International Gathering in Bergamo (Italy), 2022.
After a small break between gatherings due to COVID, things picked up again and we were able to see one another again in Bergamo Italy. Bergamo was touted as having many Bolivian inhabitants and having multiple Andean restaurants, which we were able to enjoy every day. This event was organised by Atamhi, Teresa Norman, Vicente, and Raul. This gathering introduced a documentary “My strange land” and had a panel discussion afterwards.
4th International Gathering in Cologne (Germany), 2023.
Our last international gathering was organised in Germany by Atamhi, Vicente, Teresa Norman, and Louise. They collaborated with Dominik, Julia and Jo to make this gathering a success. This 4th IG turned out to be the largest event so far with approximately 60 people attending.
Future of the gatherings
For 2024 Network of Bolivian Adoptees will not organize a gathering as they will focus on other activities and projects for the community.
